Appointments

  • You can book an appointment online here and you can also phone us 0117 2130685 or email admin@bristolpaediatrics.com

  • You do not need to be referred by your GP for an appointment with us. However we are also happy to take GP referrals and there is more information on our website regarding GP referrals here.

  • We do not routinely offer online or video consultations for an initial consultation because in Paediatrics it is usually important to see children in person for an initial assessment.

However, we can offer online or remote consultations for follow-up appointments where clinically appropriate. This is something we are happy to discuss further so please email: admin@bristol paediatrics.com

  • The consultant paediatrician will take the time to talk to you and your child about your concerns and will then perform a physical examination as appropriate.

Together you will then agree on a plan for any investigations and/or further treatment if this is necessary.

Thankfully in paediatrics investigations are often not needed.

  • The clinic can perform blood tests where these are clinically indicated. They will not be done without an initial  consultation with a paediatrician. Please also note there is an additional cost for blood tests and more information can be found here.

It may also be the case that you will need to come back on a different day to have the blood test done if this was felt to be necessary.

  • Blood tests are normally processed within 24 hours on a normal working day. Our team will email or phone with the results as soon as these are available and have been reviewed.

  • We do not perform imaging such as X-ray and CT scans etc. However, if appropriate, we are able to refer for children to have these done elsewhere following an initial consultation with a paediatrician and if felt clinically appropriate.

The referral for any non urgent investigations incur a £30 admin charge. The cost and process for the actual investigations are specific to the organisation undertaking them and is separate to the Bristol Paediatric Clinic.

Parents and carers can discuss this further at their appointment.

Aftercare & Communication

  • Yes. Our paediatricians will produce a summary letter after your appointment with us which will be shared with both you and your GP.

Sharing information like this with your GP is really important and we actually insist on this and will not see children without consent for this.

The exception to this would be if a child is not actually registered with a GP, in which case we will seek to make alternative arrangements.

  • Yes. Our clinicians are happy to answer follow up questions relating to the initial consultation but this will be at the discretion of the clinician, acknowledging their time constraints and other clinical commitments.

For more details and ongoing clinical queries, follow up or remote consultations will be needed.

  • Medical records for children seen in the clinic are stored in a secure clinical and electronic patient record system.
