Dr Dan Magnus
Co-Director Bristol Paediatric Clinic

Dan is a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine in the Children’s Emergency Department at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children where he was Clinical Lead from 2019-2022. He has an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is a Consultant Senior Lecturer in Global Health at the University of Bristol. He is also Lead for undergraduate Child Health for the Bristol Medical School. Dan trained in Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine in Bath, Bristol and Toronto.
Dr Nick Sargant

Nick is a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and specialist in Paediatric Allergy at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children where he has been Clinical Lead and Divisional Lead for Clinical Governance. Nick trained in Paediatrics, Paediatric Allergy and Paediatric Emergency Medicine in London, Bath, Bristol and Sydney.
Dr Andrew Badcock
MBBS, MRCPCH, MSc
Andrew is a modern, friendly and knowledgeable Consultant General Paediatrician working in the NHS at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He has a family-based approach to the care of a whole range of problems affecting children and young people. Andrew has a special Interest in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine, for children with cough and wheeze, as well as for children suffering from allergic symptoms caused by air-borne allergens, like dust mite allergy and severe hayfever. Andrew studied at the University of Cambridge and trained as a Paediatrician in Bath and Bristol.
Dr Caroline Platt
MBChB, BSc, MRCPCH, MSc
Caroline is a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist (children’s kidney doctor) at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children having qualified from the University of Bristol in 2004. She has a special interest in genetics and genetic kidney disease and gained a post-graduate Masters degree in genomic medicine from the University of Exeter in 2017. She offers general paediatric and specialist kidney clinic appointments and has particular expertise in the management of urinary tract infection and wetting.
Dr J-C Sconce
BMedSci, BMBS, MRCPCH
J-C is a Consultant Paediatrician working at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. She works within the General Paediatric Team, the High Dependency Team and the Safeguarding Team. She has been a consultant there for 10 years and has worked as Clinical Lead within the High Dependency and Safeguarding Teams. She has broad expertise for all general paediatric issues including headaches, asthma or wheeze, abdominal pain, constipation, incontinence and urinary tract infections. She has a holistic and child centred approach with all presentations and concerns. Her Paediatric work and training has been in Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol.
Dr Tom Hilliard
BM BCh MA MD FRCPCH
Tom has been a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children since 2006. His training included posts at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He was training programme director and subsequently Head of School in the Severn School of Paediatrics. His clinical interests include chronic cough, asthma, complex inflammatory lung conditions and sleep disordered breathing in children and young people.
Dr Dinesh Giri
MBBS, FRCPCH, MD, MSc
Dinesh is a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol. He completed his endocrine clinical training and earned his doctoral degree at Liverpool, where his research focused on the genomics of rare endocrine disorders. In addition, Dr. Giri holds a Master’s in Genomic Medicine from the University of Manchester. He looks after children and young people with a range of conditions including (but not limited to) disorders of growth, thyroid, puberty etc. Dr. Giri leads the nationally commissioned childhood obesity clinic in Bristol and has expertise in managing children and adoloscents with increased weight issues. He leads multidisciplinary weight management programs for children and young people with complex and severe obesity and is the UK Chief Investigator for multinational clinical trials.
